"Allow myself to introduce... myself."

Here, have a post all about me. Most recent draft of this post: 30 December 2011.

I stumbled across fanfiction in late 2006. It was awesome! People wrote stories about the characters I loved in my favorite show, Battlestar Galactica, and then they posted them for free on the internet. So I started doing that too, which resulted in getting a livejournal account.

Any place online tends to develop its own language. Livejournal's use of the term "friend" for people who can access certain semi-private posts is tricky. I don't know most of the people on my "friends" list in person. For me it's a reading list--livejournals that I find interesting to read on a regular basis, even if I don't agree with what's being said.

On my livejournal I talk about TV shows, books, movies, and a weird assortment of other things. Topics can be found by tag. I'm not particularly careful about tagging each entry for every possible topic, but this is a good general outline of what I'm likely to discuss.

If I've added you to my reading list, it means that I like your odd assortment of topics, but I don't feel any expectations of being added in return. And just because I added you to my reading list doesn't mean I will always read every post you make. Just depends on what real life is doing and how interested I am in the topic.

I've continued writing and posting fanfiction--lots for Battlestar Galactica, but there are a few other fandoms now. Here's my mostly-complete fanfiction index.

I've started watching Person of Interest and Once Upon a Time, and I'm still quite fond of Parks and Recreation and Doctor Who. Past loves include Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Battlestar Galactica, Life, Veronica Mars, Lost, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and several other shows that have since ended. I'm prone to talking about them in a fairly maudlin fashion from time to time.

Things I am sort of in charge of: co-moderator of bsg_remix with lls_mutant, co -mod of wegetcarter with azarsuerte. You can send me a private message if you have any questions or concerns about these fan-related endeavors.

General stuff about me: I teach in the USA. Public school--in the American sense of the term. I work with teens and I like my job.

I grew up in Oklahoma. My family has been there for multiple generations. I don't live there anymore, but my parents do, and currently one of my siblings. What else? Female. Religious. I don't talk about it lots here, since I have many opportunities for that away from the computer, though do feel free to ask questions if you need the point of view of a Mormon not raised in Utah. (Yes, we exist!)

Not in my twenties anymore. Fan of Sooner football.

You can always comment here if you have questions, or comment on other posts related to your topic, whatever it may be. I have my account set up to screen anonymous commenters (meaning people commenting without a livejournal account login). It just means you'll have to wait for me to log in, read the comment and unscreen it before it can be seen by everyone.

Hm. Also, I love to abuse parentheses and the word actually.

I have a dreamwidth account with the same name and I generally put entries there first. My livejournal is my main online space, however.
